Question

What Bluetooth profiles does BrailleNote support?

Answer

BrailleNote supports the following Bluetooth profiles (refered to as "services"):

  • ActiveSync: This service is used to connect a BrailleNote to a computer to synchronize (exchange, or update) files, planner appointments or address list contacts using a dedicated program (under Windows XP and under, it is called ActiveSync; under Vista, it is called Windows Mobile Device Center; to synchronize contacts and appointments, you need a separate program called KeySync). This service is also utilized by Bluetooth GPS receivers.
  • Modem: This service is used to access the Internet using a Bluetooth cell phone (with a data plan).
  • Printer: This service is used to print or emboss a document using a Bluetooth equipped printer or an embosser. A parallel to Bluetooth converter is readily availible to convert parallel port to a Bluetooth port. This service is only availible under mPower units.
  • Keyboard: This service is used to connect a Bluetooth QWERTY keyboard for typing.
