Question
I received an email, but all I see is some kind of a code that looks like less-than and greater-thans. What are these and is there a way to view these types of email on the BrailleNote?
Answer
Yes, it is possible to view these types of email on your BrailleNote. These kind of email is known as HTML email. To read HTML email:
- Open the email with KeyMail. You should see some HTML code.
- Press SPACE with S/ctrl+s. BrailleNote prompts, "document has not been modified. File name? press enter for wp temp.txt". "wp temp.txt" is the file that is used to store body of an email message.
- At this point you can either:
- Select a new folder and/or drive (in the usual way) by pressing BACKSPACE.
- Type the file name you want such as email message.
- Here is the most important part: after typing the filename itself, put a .htm or .html extension on it, such as email message.htm or email body.html.
Note: when you change the file extention, the contents of the file will be treated as HTML code.
Opening the HTML message itself:
- Open KeyWeb (press I from Main Menu, or press BACKSPACE with ENTER with I/FN+0).
- Navigate to the drive/folder in which you saved your file.
- When you see "list of favorites in (folder name) folder", press BACKSPACE with X/CTRL+X once. You should see "list of HTML, text, and braille files in "folder name" folder".
- Move to the file you want to view (your saved file) and press ENTER. The file will load like a normal web page.
